Walking and Creativity
Examples of comprehension skills that can be taught and applied to all reading situations include: summarizing, sequencing, inferencing, comparing and contrasting, drawing conclusions, self-questioning, problem-solving, relating background knowledge.
Teachers should help students make sense of texts using comprehension strategies so that they can become active readers who are better able to understand the texts they read.

Let's go for a walk

The unit deals with the various benefits of walking as a casual sports activity.
The unit opens with an introduction of the topic and the reasons people spend time walking. The body of the unit contains three passages on the topic of walking and language activities to enable pupils to acquire linguistic competences (vocabulary and grammar - gerunds). The unit closes with written and spoken production tasks. Vocabulary presented throughout the unit will help the pupils perform the tasks. The unit also contains simplified versions of two of the texts.
